Structured Notes

Structured notes are securities issued by financial institutions whose returns are based on, among other things, equity indexes, a single equity security, a basket of equity securities, interest rates, commodities, and/or foreign currencies. Thus, your return is "linked" to the performance of a reference asset or index. Structured notes have a fixed maturity and include two components - a bond component and an embedded derivative. Financial institutions typically design and issue structured notes, and broker-dealers sell them to individual investors. Some common types of structured notes sold to individual investors include: principal protected notes, reverse convertible notes, enhanced participation or leveraged notes, and hybrid notes that combine multiple characteristics.

Ted Lellos

Branch Manager – Private Client Services

Ted Lellos has 25 years of Wall Street experience. He has held producer and management positions at New York City based boutique investment banks including Senior Vice President / Executive Services Division at Gruntal & Co., Branch Manager at Josephthal, Lyon & Ross and Branch Sales Manager at National Securities corporate headquarters. Mr. Lellos joined Joseph Gunnar & Co. in 2012 as a Managing Director and is the Sales Manager for the firm’s New Jersey office. Ted attended Long Island University / CW Post Campus and holds Series 7, 8, 24, 63 and 65 licenses.

Richard Tomitz

National Sales Director – Private Client Services

Richard’s career on Wall Street spans 21 years.  He joined Joseph Gunnar & Co. as National Sales Director where he is responsible for building, developing and managing the sales force, as well as managing and maintaining client portfolios.  Prior to Joseph Gunnar, Richard was with Maxim Group as an Assistant Branch Manager and Vice President of Investments.  The consistent thread in his career has been the ability to teach wealth management professionals how to build trust and rapport with all types of investor-clients and motivating forward momentum. He is known for his inspirational leadership, talent in sales and strategy development, and knowledge of the full scope of retail brokerage management. Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Binghamton University, in addition to FINRA Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses.

Stephen Marek

Branch Manager – Private Client Services

Stephen has 22 years of experience in the financial services industry. Stephen joined Joseph Gunnar & Co. in January 2009 as the Supervising Branch Manager of the Melville, Long Island Branch. Prior to joining Joseph Gunnar, Stephen was a founding member of the broker-dealer, American Capital Partners. In addition to Stephen’s Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Dowling College, he holds Series 7, 65, 63, 24 and Life and Health Insurance licenses. Over the past 22 plus years on Wall Street, Stephen has participated in Private Equity Offerings, IPOs, Public Secondaries, Second Market Transactions, Preferred Securities, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Exchange Traded Funds, Fixed Annuities and other Life Insurance Products.

Demitry Portnoy

Supervising Principal – Private Client Services

Demitry’s career in the securities industry spans 15 years.  Demitry started his career at American Capital Partners, where he worked for 5 years and developed from an Account Executive to Senior Vice President and later started his own Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJ), as a Supervising Principal. Demitry transitioned to Joseph Gunnar & Co. with his entire team where he has been an owner/operator of the Long Island branch for the past 8 years.  Throughout his career, Demitry has managed over 50 Financial Advisors and he holds Series 7, 66, 63, 24 and Life and Health Insurance licenses.

Michael Wagner

Supervising Principal – Private Client Services

Michael Wagner’s career in the financial services industry spans over 18 years. Michael joined Joseph Gunnar & Co. in 2009 as a Senior Managing Director and is currently a principal owner in a Joseph Gunnar Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJ) located in Melville, New York where he acts as a producing Supervising Principal. Michael is a graduate of the Military Intelligence School in Massachusetts, served in the United States Army active duty in the 732nd Military Intelligence Battalion and is also a wartime veteran. Michael holds the Series 7, 63, 65, 24, 4 securities licenses and is also a licensed Life and Health Insurance agent.
